The team was able to envision, design, render and develop architectural plans that transformed my front-to-back split level into a new home. The team (Derek, Justin, Crystal and Giovanna) was professional and creative throughout the detailed design process for a new kitchen, two bathrooms, and indoor/outdoor living space. I have been working with Derek and his team for over 2 years (before we found our property) to design and build our dream home. We just broke ground and I cannot say enough good things about our experience. We completely remodeled our master bath and closet, and retiled a guest bath with MAC. They, by far, gave us the best design for our space we could find! They managed to make the bathroom more functional AND give us a bigger closet within the existing square footage. We started with a different designer that ended up leaving the company for a different job before we demo-ed, but Allison came in and took the reins. She was incredible! Can’t give her enough praise! She was extremely organized and efficient, conscious of our budget, and just had a great eye for design and style. She was always on top of everything and was just a pleasure to work with. She helped me make decisions when I was stuck and her suggests really made the space pop and look amazing. We are very happy with the new space! If you chose MAC, ask for Allison!! The reason for 4/5 stars was due to the fact the project took nearly 2x as long as we expected bc there were a lot of delays and lulls.

We are about halfway through our major construction project of two additions at the same time. The MAC team has been guiding us through the process all along, starting at the initial meeting with Derek Leiter when we explained the vision for our family home. The design really wowed us. We felt like they understood what we wanted and incorporated our must-haves in the planning. Justin O'Connell worked with our budget, and answered our questions regarding the cost breakdown. Allison Ugarte designed a beautiful kitchen and two bathrooms, and I appreciated her help shopping in person for the lighting, plumbing and stone/tile. Thus far during construction, Dave Stone and Angelique Dupree have been responsive to our concerns and Elizabeth Litke has been maintaining an organized timeline to keep everyone on schedule. Her weekly project update emails are helpful to know where we are and what's ahead next. We are very excited to see the completed project! Highly recommend the MAC team!

When we decided to remodel our kitchen this year (2024), we interviewed seven design-build firms and asked three to come and visit our kitchen. We selected MAC Design-Build based upon their creative design that allowed us to look at all of the options in the new kitchen. Caitlin Gilhuys provided a design that turned a kitchen remodel into a work of art. Her mix of colors and textures were superb. But a kitchen remodel is not simply a design. MAC’s project management and quality workmanship took the entire project to a new level. Derek Leiter and David Stone lead an exceptional design-build team. I strongly recommend MAC Design-Build and particularly recommend Caitlin as a designer.

I want to give a shout out to our Senior Estimator, Justin O'Connell. He helped us get through design of our master and guest baths, keeping in mind all of our goals. And more importantly, our budget. Justin has also stepped in and helped with the construction portion and that has been a significant help in our process. While we're a little more than half way through construction, we wouldn't be where we are without him. I highly recommend using Justin if MAC is your choice!

We had our basement finished with MAC in 2022. The project was beautiful but the experience we had was really made amazing by Justin. Justin was the first person we met at MAC and when he came out to our house I knew we had the right people for the job. Justin patiently listened to our ambitious plans for the bar in the basement and was diplomatic in managing our expectations. Would work with him and the MAC team again in a heartbeat.

This review is based solely on the feasibility study as I have yet to work with this company on a project. I requested a formal estimate from MAC for my kitchen renovation and bump out. I was scheduled promptly (less than 2 weeks from request) and the team that came to the house was very professional. They asked a lot of detailed questions and were very thorough which makes me feel comfortable the resultant plans and estimate will reflect what we are looking for. I especially enjoyed speaking with the designer Allison. She was very easy to talk to and seemed to pick up on our vision for the space very quickly.

My wife and I were considering building a basement, and met with a number of different companies. Justin O'Connel, MAC's architect, met us as part of the initial conversations and immediately put us at ease with his knowledge of the process and insightful questions that helped us think through the project. Deciding to gut your existing kitchen is a big decision, but in today’s real estate market, especially here in Ashburn, it’s worth the time and expense to update the most important room in the house. Our townhouse in Belmont Country Club was built in 2001 and it was time for an update. We considered cabinet refacing; painting the existing cabinets, replacing hardware and adding a new counter. This process takes a lot less time and is much less expensive. We spent months considering our options. Once we decided to commit to a complete remodel, we needed to find a contractor. We interviewed five contractors, sharing our ideas for the kitchen and considering the updates each company rep would suggest. Candidly, this process took months. We received estimates and spent hours looking through websites to finalize the look we wanted to achieve. Justin O’Connell from MAC Design & Build made the decision easy. Together we explored several design concepts and he was very patient as my husband and I considered our options. Ultimately, we entered into this project with a clear vision of how we wanted the kitchen to look. MAC worked with us to incorporate our ideas into the final design plans. Everyone at MAC from the design consultants, lighting experts and cabinet installer to the flooring, tile and counter subs were friendly, ontime and hard working. Even once the kitchen was complete and the final pieces of hardware were installed, MAC’s customer service team was extremely responsive to making sure everything was perfect. He also helped coordinate not only the demolition of my old flooring but the install of my new flooring, all within my budget and in a timely manner!
