Owner and President
David’s responsibilities at MAC design + build is to oversee the project management side of the business once construction has begun.
A graduate of Ithaca College in New York, David got his “official” start in the building industry in 1987 helping his father with roofing projects. He founded MAC design + build with his partner Derek Leiter.
David is married with five children and loves adventure that includes travel, skydiving, powerboating and comedy clubs.
Owner and Vice President
Derek’s responsibility at MAC design + build is business development — sales, estimating and design, however, his role is to take clients to wherever their goals are for their projects. He is the first person to meet with clients and the one who drives the entire project, assembling teams, assigning project managers, and staying in touch with the client on a weekly basis.
“We approach our business from a customer service point of view, not as a usual contractor,” he says. “We consider it a privilege to work on each customer’s home, and enjoy helping people and creating beautiful designs.”
Derek studied physics and engineering in college, but always returned to his love of architectural style. He worked for more than 15 years, selling home improvement products and remodeling services and learning the various trades involved, before co-founding MAC design + build. He is married with two daughters and enjoys volleyball, wine tasting and international travel.
Director of Architecture
Architectural drawings and architectural structural issues are the Marc’s responsibility at MAC design + build. However, with more than 15 years’ experience in residential construction, he has fined tuned his skills in both design and relationship building.
Marc grew up working in a family construction business and went on to earn a degree in Architecture from Ferris State University. He is a certified professional building designer and a professional member of the American Institute of Building Design. His award-winning designs have been recognized by design and construction industries on both local and national levels.
Hailing from the shores of Lake Michigan, Marc became a skilled outdoorsman, and enjoys hiking, biking, camping, skiing, water sports, boating, mountain biking and the outdoors in general.
Clients often use Christine’s design services at MAC design + build when picking out selections or determining furniture placements. She listens to clients’ needs and desires, then carefully crafts a design plan uniquely suited to each client. It is important to get it right the first time so that clients will be happy with their selections for years to come.
Christine began her design career more than 15 years ago after inspiration from her family’s custom drapery and bedding business. Upon receiving her degree in Interior Design from the Art Institute of Atlanta, he honed her design skills at a national design firm. When she relocated to Northern Virginia, she opened her own interior design business before joining MAC.
Christine has two children, two grandsons, several “fur babies,” and enjoys a good game of golf.
As MAC design + build’s office manager, Jaya is responsible for accounts receivable/payable, licensing and customer service. She is involved in all aspects of each project, from the moment of design to completion, partnering with MAC teams and clients for scheduling, contractor processing and supplies.
Jaya began working in business upon receiving her degree in 2013 from Brigham Young University in Idaho. Originally from Stafford, Virginia, she enjoys visiting family, volleyball, softball, and body building.
